Japanese Popstars ft. Green Velvet - Let Go

THE GUARDIAN: “SINGLE OF THE WEEK: TOTALLY STUPENDOUS MECHANICAL POP MUSIC”

In between live shows at BBC Radio 1’s Ibiza Weekend, Reading, Leeds, Bestival, Rockness, Creamfields, and beyond, The Japanese Popstars are finishing their second album. They’ve just remixed Gorillaz’ ‘Melancholy Hill’, and are drip-feeding a series of club tracks to satiate those eagerly awaiting the long-player’s release in early 2011.

Following the ‘Destroy EP’, a sonic appetiser that saw them joined by Jon Spencer (he of the Blues Explosion), the next release is ‘Let Go’, featuring the madcap legend that is Green Velvet. First leaked online earlier this month, ‘Let Go’, has picked up praise from a range of blogs.

Hailed as the rightful heirs to Underworld, Leftfield, The Chemical Brothers, and Orbital, The Japanese Popstars’ debut album, ‘We Just Are’ was championed by The Guardian, Word, Artrocker, NME, Clash, Popjustice, Mixmag, DJ, Radio 1, XFM, and beyond. The singles earned the support of Soulwax, Benny Benassi, Zane Lowe and the rest of the electronic elite.

Recent key shows have included Radio 1’s In New Music We Trust and Ibiza weekend live events, Parklife, Benicassim, Rockness, Club NME (they return on 8th October to Koko), their support slot for Tiesto and Pendulum in Victoria Park, London, and many more. The band will shortly embark on a French festival tour.

Remixes on ‘Let Go’ come from Green Velvet, Joe & Will Ask, Aspirin, Mixhell, and myself.

Here's my remix for your club action needs which has seen support from Plump DJ's, Arveene and Greg Churchill

One Night Stand launching with a bang and a puff of... CLOUDS

Storming onto the scene comes East London's newest electro/techno night 'ONE NIGHT STAND'. One Night Stand is all about getting crazy to the freshest tracks in intimate venues with superior sound quality. Over the big faceless clubs? Want to experience those dancefloor moments we've all had but are rarely delivered? Want DJ's booked on talent not how many people they can get on the guestlist? Come join the family and let's get loose.

For our debut night we're thrilled to have Scotland's most exciting musical export, CLOUDS (Blood Music/Turbo Recordings). Since beginning their foray into music production in early 2009, Clouds have found themselves the subjects of a meteoric rise within blog and DJ circles alike. Drawing on influences as diverse as Animal Collective and Green Velvet, their music joins the dots between driving electro, bumping house and crunching techno, all the while retaining a musicality and longevity often found lacking in much of today's disposable club music.

Championed by the likes of Tiga, Fake Blood, Erol Alkan, Proxy, Annie Mac, Sinden and Boys Noize, their incredible 'Liquid / Mauful Sir' was the debut release for Fake Blood’s Blood Music label and is receiving massive support. Remixes of Underworld, Dem Slackers and Screendeath as well as forthcoming series of EPs for Turbo Recordings and a track on Boys Noize’s recent DJ Mag mix CD are set to take things up a notch. The next few months look set to be the making of Clouds, make no mistake. Catch them in an intimate environment before it's too late!

Joining Clouds are Secret Garden Party regular 10 Rapid (Exceptional) whose remix of Jonelle Monae's Tightrope and solo EP's have made Fatboy Slim, A-Trak and Adam Freeland fans of his heavy duty indie influenced techno sound.

Luke Walker (Gung-ho) also steps to the plate fresh from his remixes of the Japanese Popstars and the Losers both featuring in September's DMC Buzz Chart. His solo releases for Gung-ho! have seen support from the Autokratz, Andy George and Tom Findlay (Groove Armada) and he is set to play Ministry tours in Europe, South America and Japan in the coming months.

One Night Stand residents Kristie Van and Danny Scott round off the lineup in style proving the art of the pure DJ is here to stay. Kristie's subtle yet commanding style has graced sound systems both in her home town of Auckland and London institutions Proud, Vibe, Relentless Garage, Inigo and Gigalum.

Danny Scott runs party brand Nice Haircut! and has rocked venues like The Relentless Garage, Proud Galleries and The Camden Enterprise. He has also hosted rooms for Bangers & Mash and Monto with his Electro/Nu Disco sets and has played through East London sharing the decks with the likes of We Have Band and Metronomy.
